Make a beautiful stool from concrete for your greenhouse
Venture into a fun hobby like furniture designer and manufacturer
It is fun to make your own things and you can even make them beautiful, simple and sustainable which is even more fun. Concrete lasts many years, and you can make a lot of beautiful things from concrete.
In this article, I will briefly explain how you can make your own stool for the greenhouse or your cosy corner. When you have tried that, there is no limit to what you can make.
You can make concrete shelves, piquant pots, bowls, large pots, bedside tables and many other quirky and nice things that no one else has.
The idea for a concrete stool I got from two Swedish authors who love to work with concrete. Malin Nilsson and Camilla Arvidsson.
How to make a concrete stool:
Mould:
You can use a balcony railing plant pot. That is what I used. You can also choose other shapes from different kinds of buckets. For the stool not to get heavy you can mould empty soft drink bottles or pieces of polystyrene into the stool. Then you also need less concrete.
How to:
Cover any holes that might be in the plastic mould with tape.
Glaze the inside of the mould with oil.
Fill the mould with concrete.
Shake the mould to make the air bubbles disappear and for the top smooth.
Let the concrete harden for 3 days. Turn the mould upside down and pull it off carefully.
Plane down any irregularities with a file or stone.
